Do you have a family Easter tradition that you just love?
I have a few, but the ones that stand out the most to me always center around Christ. My parents did an amazing job letting us have a grand old time with the Easter bunny and egg hunts, but I knew what the importance of Easter meant to them.
I love traditions and making memories, but I love the Easter tradition I’m sharing after I share this darling, free printable. I feel like it really helps me, as an adult, and my family understand the meaning of Easter.
One incredibly easy way to bring that Easter Spirit to life in your home is to create this
“He Lives” banner. Using this free printable template created by Paging Supermom. You can create this banner in a snap.
Paging Supermom also created a whole packet of coordinating decor for your Easter table. My family has a big Easter brunch, but these pieces would also be perfect to dress up your Easter dinner table or even use them for an egg decorating party or egg hunt. The templates include instructions, and most of the pieces are multi-purpose so they’ll be easy to incorporate with your family’s traditions.
I love this egg garland I grabbed from Joobilee Designs. You’ll see in a minute why I love eggs, but especially the hollow ones.
This banner is so perfect & took 2 seconds to print out, a couple minutes to cut, and the kids helped me tape it to twine. My sign is from my favorite, Salty Bison.
My favorite Easter tradition is below. I love putting small items that represent the story of the Resurrection in eggs & reading scriptures that correlate with that symbol. I love making traditions that stick and this Easter tradition has been going on for years. I share it with my family, I take it to church if I’m teaching a lesson, I still talk to my mom about it. The kids at church get so excited to see the eggs and get so reverent when I start talking about all the symbols. It’s hard to get through all 12 eggs without getting emotional.
9. One of Jesus’ disciples name Joseph took Jesus’ body off the cross. He wrapped Jesus’ body in clean cloth and laid it in a tomb. A tomb is a place where people are buried.
Matthew 27:57-60 (strips of white cloth)
10. Then after Joseph had laid Jesus’ body in the tomb, he rolled a big stone in front of the tomb so that Jesus’ body would be safe.
Matthew 27:60 (a stone)
11. Jesus’ body was in the tomb for 3 days. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body with sweet spices.
Matthew 28:2 and Mark 16:1-9 (spices tied in a small piece of cloth)
12. But when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary got to the tomb, thestone was rolled away from the door of the tomb. They looked inside
the tomb… Jesus was not there! (show empty egg) They saw an angel there. The angel said to them, “Jesus is not here for He is risen, as He
said.” Jesus was resurrected! Jesus promised that we too will be resurrected like Him. This is a special gift that Jesus gave to us.
Matthew 28:6
This is such a simple way to teach about the meaning of Easter. I love that you picked items that I have on hand (or could find outside). My kids will love doing it. Thanks for sharing, Jen!
