Thank you to Pyrex Bakeware and Glassware for sponsoring this holiday treats post! As always, all opinions and thoughts expressed are my own.
If you follow us on Instagram, you might have noticed that my sister is in town! She got here a couple of weeks ago and I feel like with her here, the holidays have really arrived! Growing up in our home, the holidays were kind of like a few of the big Christmas classics you’ve seen. Magical, loud, lots of people, relaxing for everyone but the moms, and at times when we were singing carols or performing the Nativity, peaceful.
Baking has been a huge, huge part of my life. I think my mom showed love through cooking and baking for large groups of people. There are 9 kids in our family + spouses + grandchildren and I’m sure it felt like she was feeding a small army. We made a lot of cookies, cakes, rice krispie treats, ice cream sundaes, brownies, and gingerbread houses. The kids always got to help & being around family was the best. While we enjoyed our holiday treats, we’d be watching Christmas Vacation, Santa Claus, A Christmas Story, or Elf in the background.
Besides making heaps and heaps of holiday treats for our family, my mom has been amazing at delivering treats to other people. Her legacy of treats has set the bar pretty dang high.
We enjoy baking together and right when my nephew got off the airplane, we had him over and started making all of our favorite holiday treats.
He lives out of the country and doesn’t get very many holiday treats, so this was a super fun afternoon for my kids to help him try out everything! I’m not sure how grateful his mom was 😉
I absolutely love using Pyrex Bakeware & Glassware for all my baking needs. I kind of geek out over finding vintage Pyrex and would scour thrift shops for them, but look at what Pyrex just came out with! Their love collection is so cute! I love the white, pink & turquoise. They have a bunch of colors and patterns to choose from.
This year we decided to put together dishes with our favorite holiday treats to hand out to some of our neighbors. We made a handful of them and filled them to the brim with treats and our favorite holiday candies.
These times with my children are fleeting. They are hectic, they are messy, they are rarely Pinterest worthy moments, but they are mine. I’m realizing how fast they are going and I cannot grab onto them fast enough. With this being Ty’s First Christmas, I keep wanting to really enjoy these “firsts.” His first time making Christmas trains, the first snow, the first neighbor gift delivery, the first time watching Grandpa make his eggnog, the first of many matching pj’s.
To help me with all of these Holiday Firsts is the well known, reliable and quality products of Pyrex.
Yes, the feelings of my childhood were magic because of the holiday treats and the family time, but in addition to that, we knew mom was crazy about us.
She had the patience to let us sift flour, roll out sugar dough, crack eggs, hold the mixer, and pour in the chocolate chips.
Everything my mom showed us growing up was love. The way she taught, baked, cleaned, served. It was all done in love.
I truly hope to be half the mom to my babes that she’s been to us.
Check out our favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe & carmelita recipe. They are simple and tried and true!
