We had a busy weekend full of errands and our kids spent a lot of time in the car. The snow storm we were driving around in didn’t help make the trips go quicker either. I promised that we would do something really awesome and have a fun family night with a picnic in the living room. Dinner for kids can be tricky. I have picky eaters and when they realized they got to have something they liked PLUS eat in the living room PLUS have movie night with mom and dad, they were beyond excited!
I started prepping by running to Wal Mart and grabbing The Smurfs 2.
It was perfect! Not too girly and not too violent. My son and daughter both enjoyed it.
I wanted to make the night about them and not ruin the movie by trying to get them to eat something new. I grabbed some Batter Dipped Chicken Breast Tenders & also the Honey Batter Chicken Breast Tenders in hopes that I could beg my children to try them…I didn’t even have to. There was not one left.
I told my husband there is a yummy Asian Lettuce Wrap recipe on the back of the honey bag that I’m going to try.
We tried to add blue to our dinner to see if we’d wake up as a Smurf in the morning. It added to the hype of the evening and when dad walked in the kids were dragging him to see the blue juice and the blue jello. We asked them to find other blue stuff and they came back with blue straws, blue twine, a blue blanket and blue plates.
We were set and ready to start it.
At the end of the movie we had funfetti cupcakes with blue frosting of course! We celebrated Smurfette’s birthday and added smurf legs into our cupcakes.
Spoiler alert: We thought their legs looked similar to when they tumble from their village into the real world after Smurfette is kidnapped.
We had a great family movie night and I know the kids loved it!
