I was a regular at Goodwill before we moved a few months ago.
They switched out furniture every few days and I happened to grab a few things, this little chest being one of them.
Poor Mr. J would just sweetly ask, “Do we really need that? We are most likely moving soon and we don’t even have room for it.”
He knew best, we moved shortly after I got this and I’ve finally gotten around to it!
It’s an interesting size…too short to be a media stand, but only detailed in the front so I didn’t know how it would look if I put it in a living room as a cocktail table.

I decided on making it a toy chest for Little Miss L.
I went off the same colors that I did her flower wreath mobile and I love how it turned out!
Here is the before. Not too bad just white, but the Goodwill employee dropped it off the cart on the way out {definitely awkward}
and it chipped a bunch of paint off and was showing gold underneath.
Since this is the first furniture piece I’ve touched, I read a bunch of blog tutorials and tried everything.
I sanded, stripped, sanded, scraped, oh and stripped some more.
This took FOREVER!
My sweetheart of a brother came out and would lend a helping hand when he could tell my arms were feeling like jello.
I left it primed for a few days. I was nervous about the color I chose. I’m usually a very neutral-white, black, brown, cream, tan-person and I chose green! I sprayed it on and Mr. J said that he could tell I wasn’t sure about it and to make sure I was sure before I painted all of the sides.
He wasn’t planning on helping sand it down again 🙂
Here it is done!
I used …
Knobs-Anthropologie
Paper from Michael’s, cut out little frames, and used Modge Podge to seal it
I love how it turned out!

Wow, that sounds like a lot of work. I had no idea you had to strip old paint off first before repainting. Looks so pretty now, glad it was worth all the arm work.

You did a great job! I gotta find a better Goodwill store to go to. The one near me never has anything work bringing home. I love the Mod Podge paper inserts too! It really gives it a classy touch. Thanks for sharing it with us!

It turned out fabulous! Neutrals are great…unless you’re a child. 😉 They like color, so it’s perfect.
