Who has already been shopping for swimsuits this season? All stocked up or kind of dreading it?
To be honest, I’ve kind of been dreading it and a conversation I had with my husband recently shifted my perspective a little bit.
Wearing swimsuits is different for me since having 3 kids.
Growing up, we had a pool in our backyard. It meant that I was tan the second school got out and I didn’t have the mom fluff that I have now.
I don’t think my husband even knew I was dreading shopping for swimsuits and while we were chatting late one night, he randomly asked me what makes me the happiest and brings me the most joy.
I gave some pretty on the surface answers like our kids, chocolate, sleeping in, having people over, game nights, etc.
I thought about it for a minute and told him that our kids bring me the most joy, but that it comes from doing different things with them.
As much as I love having all of the laundry done, I don’t sit there putting it away in their drawers thinking to myself, “Wow, this brings me so much joy.”
Or while we are cleaning up any of their messes, I’m not repeatedly telling them, “Thank you for bringing me so much joy!”
What makes me so happy is reading books to them, cuddling up and watching a late night movie, making a treat in the kitchen, going on a bike ride, and anything that involves water. I felt weird saying this out loud, but really, any hike that ends at a waterfall, lake or river will be on my summer list. Going on a bike ride to the nearest park with a small creek is the perfect way to end my day.
And yes, taking my kids down a waterslide, holding them close in a wave pool, or floating down the lazy river makes my day.
I instantly turn into a kid when a waterpark is involved.
It changed my perspective slightly, because why would I hold myself back from doing something that I love because of how I feel about myself.
My kids definitely don’t pick on my insecurities like I do and everyone else swimming is too occupied with their own thing to worry about what I’m doing.
A friend of mine recommended Kortni Jeane swimsuits & this style top has got to be my favorite. It hides my problem area and makes me feel better about myself in a suit than I have in a long time. Plus the high rise bottoms are so flattering. There are a few options for styles in bottoms and tops, so if your sweet spot is your stomach area, I would say totally get a more fitted style. I love that I could pick out different bottoms and tops for my girls and have us somewhat coordinating because I’m all about Mommy & Me. I will be that way until they are old enough to tell me otherwise.
I mean, seriously those happy faces.
I love the saying, do more of what makes you happy.
After having a heart to heart with the hubs, that’s exactly what I plan on doing.

Thanks to Nina Tekwani for being such an amazing photographer & sweet friend! She loves to travel and is usually on an airplane so you can also find her outside of Utah pretty often.
