A Letter to the Big Brother

To the big brother of the house:
It’s hard to believe that in just a few weeks you will be big brother to 2 little girls.
It’s a pretty big job.
If our next little one is like our first, she will be your biggest fan.
She will want to play superheros more than princess because you like superheros.
Instead of her Rapunzel costume she will wear a supergirl or batgirl cape to look like you.
When you aren’t home because daddy takes you on a special late night, she won’t fall asleep until hours after her bedtime because she has been whining for her “Joe bo bear.”
She will cheer as loud as she can for you during soccer games, even when you are running the wrong way.
If you jump off a rock, a chair, an ottoman, the fireplace, or the bed, expect her to follow.
She will tell you how awesome you are for being able to do a cannonball, swim a lap, or just twirl around underwater.
When you finish dinner before her and she loses the race, she will tell you great job.
If you put on your daddy’s cologne, she will ask you to find mommy’s perfume.
She will laugh with you and be your shadow.
If you help in the kitchen, she will pull up a chair to help.
She will accept the fact that if she agrees to play neighborhood, the fairy treehouse, the castle, and the playhouse will always be under attack and the Batman cave will be the only safe place.
She’ll refuse to put on clothes because you don’t like to put on clothes.
When bedtime comes, she will only let you help her say her prayer and it will be quite a tender moment to witness.
You will be her big protector in the play place at Chick fil a and make sure she comes out with her shoes and headband still on.
If you thought dancing was annoying with just 1 sister, wait until you have 2 asking you to dance with them in the living room.
You will have quite the little fan base wanting to watch you play on uncle’s ipad.
I’m sure it will be frustrating having the little ones breaking your lego creation, wanting to follow you everywhere, and telling your guy friends they love them, but they will just want to be around you because of what a little stud you are.
She might try scratching you or biting you, but you being the patient boy that you are will continue to bite your tongue and come talk to mom about it.
You are my helper, my mostly mellow, sanity saver boy.
I can’t imagine life without you as the big brother.
Love your mom.
