Does your schedule resemble mine at all?
Wake up extra early to get your child that loves sleep off to school. Feed him breakfast, make his lunch, read his book with him while he’s eating breakfast, brush teeth, do his hair, grab a sweatshirt, sign any papers he forgot to show you the previous day, kiss his forehead, and tell him to have a good day.
Rush back into my cozy bed hoping for 10 more minutes of sleep.
The girls wake up about the same time. Bottle for one and blanket and tv on for the other. Grab them both a bowl of cereal and feed them. I’m a grazer so I usually share with the baby.
Make the beds.
Get the girls in the bath, throw away the diaper, bathe them, rinse them off, lotion them up and dress them.
Put in a load of laundry and while I’m headed downstairs to do that, I see that a gazillion toys need to be picked up and put away.
On my way back upstairs I see the mail, go through it and trash it quickly and grab the baby so she can be put down for a nap.I lay with her until she falls asleep because she isn’t the best self soother and it breaks my heart to hear her cry.
Spend some one on one time with the toddler, return emails, and unload the dishwasher.
Once baby wakes up I feed the girls lunch and we head out on an errand.
Am I the only one who misses meals occasionally? Or snacks on their kids meals to save time? Sometimes I think it’s multitasking, but really peanut butter and crackers with applesauce and carrots? Great, but not multiple times a week.
While I do like to see a pound or two off the scale, I know snacking off my kids isn’t the smartest way to do it.
Luckily, last week I found a quick, but good option for lunch.
While shopping at Target this week, I found Lean Cuisine Honestly Good Meals and grabbed a few to try out.
The new Lean Cuisine Honestly Good meals are: Honey Citrus Chicken, Lemongrass Salmon, Pineapple Black Pepper Beef, Plum Ginger Grain-Crusted Fish, Pomegranate Chicken, & Roasted Red Pepper Chicken.
I decided to try the Roasted Red Pepper Chicken one first.
All I need is a bowl for the sauce and a plate. The meals feature six different varieties full of 100% all natural, wholesome ingredients with a sauce you add yourself.
Together with their farmers, they’re donating a portion of the vegetables grown for Lean Cuisine Honestly Good meals to local communities. That’s awesome!
By the time I got the girls lunch ready, my lunch was ready and we all pulled up a chair to our little bar. I’m usually not a huge fan of out of the box meals, but there’s no way I could have a meal like this for lunch when I’m trying to take care of my littles. It was really yummy.
I added corn and red bell peppers on the side just because I had them, but the food didn’t need any more flavor. I just felt like being an overachiever on the vegetable level for the day!
Look who is now borrowing off of my plate?! This girl is pretty picky so if she will try it, I know it looks good. She actually liked it! You didn’t have to tell me it was better than peanut butter and crackers.
With the holidays coming up, a homecoming, and a couple of weddings, I want to not only look my best, but feel my best also. I’ve started walking with my kids, but with winter quickly approaching here, I don’t know that 45 degrees would be that fun to walk in! Until I have a good routine set, I know that eating better and not skipping out is a great start!
xo,
