Mother’s Day is coming up soon & this mom tee should be on your wishlist.
I absolutely adore Brenda from Brenda Bird Designs & when I saw this tee, I knew I needed to have it.
First off, I don’t think I’m close to the best mom in the world, but I know that there are moments that for my kids, I’m pretty darn close.
I got my mom tee in the mail and I’d kind of chuckle to myself and think, “Yeah, I’m the best (ish) mom when I can keep my patience in check, or when I concentrate on being a good mom for 5 minutes, or when I am on time once in a blue moon, or when I actually remember to help my kids with their homework, or feed them a home cooked meal a few times a week, or if I don’t have to be reminded to actually do the laundry.”
I noticed that I cut myself off. I don’t let myself become fully engulfed in being a mom because I’m always bringing up my faults. I know that I’m in the same boat with a bunch of my girlfriends. We are always quick to point out what we are doing wrong and what someone else is doing so right. We are so fast to discredit the things we are accomplishing during the day. Changing diapers? Well it has to be done. Making food? We have to eat. Doing laundry? We need clothes. Picking up one pile of toys? There’s still 8 others that were left untouched. We are the hardest critics to please.
Why not try and see ourselves as our kids see us?
I grew up with an incredible mother. I always felt loved, warm treats were available a few times a week, traditions were made, birthdays celebrated, sporting events attended, laundry done, house cleaned, recitals videotaped, family dinners around the table, homework completed, values were instilled, and she’s crazy about my dad. There are 9 of us! She has been there for 9 of us!
I have her up on a pedestal. For good reason.
As amazing as she is, I’m sure she probably felt stressed out somedays, thought she was never going to catch up on her sleep, wanted to use the bathroom by herself, & probably wished she didn’t have to live at the grocery store.
The thing is, I don’t remember any of that.
I remember how I felt. I have lots of positive memories growing up under her watchful care.
Here I am in the thick of motherhood wondering what the heck my kids will remember & feel when they are grown up with families of their own.
I came up with a few things that make me feel like the best (ish) mom and if you get a chance, I hope you’ll do it too.
1. Lots of kisses & hugs & giving them the constant feeling of love
2. Donuts on the weekends
3. Going to the park on skateboards
4. Bike riding up the canyon
5. Tubing down the mountain
6. Reading books & cuddling
7. Rice Krispie Treats & Brownies
8. Soccer games on Saturday mornings
9. Nail Painting & Doing Hair
10. Family Vacations
11. Dance Parties in the kitchen
12. School Parties
13. Conference Weekends
14. Late Night Movie Nights
15. Temple Dedications
I challenged myself to do 15 & it took minutes. I came up with some of my happiest moments where I’ve felt fulfilled in my role as a mom & where I know they’ve thought I was just the best thing ever.

Thanks to Nina Tekwani for being such an amazing photographer & sweet friend! It takes a lot of patience to take pictures of 2 girls that are not fans of the camera. If you are in the Salt Lake area, look her up. Actually, she loves to travel and is usually on an airplane so you can also find her outside of Utah pretty often.
She is so so incredible to work with, check her out on Instagram!

I love my mom tee. I’m a thinker. I pretty much over think through every situation. I’m sure it’s going to be hard trying to focus on what I am doing right from day to day, but I think there is a reason I am my kids mom. There must be something about me that works great with something about them.
