I am not very good at accessorizing and I am way too neutral! So a little while back I realized our home needed some color because all I see are shades of creams, browns, and greys. Have you seen that cute movie “The Holiday”?! Cameron Diaz has the most gorgeous home!! The home is also very neutral, but I spotted a hint of forest green in the living room…
If you look closely the coffee table has a fun moss centerpiece… totally random but I decided to replicate it for our coffee table. I can’t find the pictures of the process of making the centerpiece, so I will explain what I did.
Tools needed: hot glue gun, 2 packages of moss from a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michael’s, 6 styrofoam balls, and a cute platter or bowl to hold the balls.
There is no real correct way to do this and I was not exactly sure how to so I just laid down some paper and started breaking up pieces of moss and sticking it to the balls as best I could with the hot glue, until they were completely covered and there were no visible spots of the styrofoam. It was pretty easy, despite the mess I made, but I was really happy with the end product. Caution: I do not have children, but I have friends with children and have noticed that they find these funny little balls very interesting. So if you have kids it would probably be best to keep this accessory piece out of reach of the little kiddos!
The finished piece!
It was a small addition to the living room, but I like it and it was pretty simple!
P.S. I often notice random things in movies that I really like and for awhile now I have been trying to figure out where these bath robes are from in the movie “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”?! If anyone has a good guess I’d appreciate it!
