I’m about to eat my momma’s words {I bet she will love this} and say the first most important thing I’ve learned about friendship is…my mom and sister ended up being my best friends. She would tell me when I was a teenager and I thought she was sooo embarrassing, “You know, one day we will be best friends.” It hit me that she was right the day she flew out to go home and I was moved in to my new apartment getting ready to start college. I figured that my sister would be one of my bestest friends because I always looked up to her {even though she is the younger one}. She’s so dang cute, stylish, independent and has the easiest personality.
My #2 would be no matter the distance, the time, or just the business of life, they are there for you. I can think of a few friends {1 from elementary school, 1 from high school, 1 from college and 1 from my newlyed years} that every time I talk to them, we just click again. We don’t have to know day to day stuff, but I just know them, the good and the bad and they know that about me. It’s so nice to have friends that put effort into the relationship because I sometimes feel like an idiot if I’m the only one calling!
One extra tidbit that I didn’t want to leave out. I feel I have found a true friend when I can invite myself and my kids over for a playdate, a lunchdate or a shopping date, they see me in “lounge clothes” more than not, and they learn I don’t wear makeup before noon {if it goes on at all}.
Us at Coronado, both tomato red so I had to make the pic black and white
Little Miss L, her momma and her momma’s momma. My husband thinks he’s hilarious when he talks about me cutting the umbilical cord. I know some people can relate!
