I’m inspired by women who simply go out of their way to cheer a friend up by bringing her cupcakes when she’s had a rough day, women who leave their love a special note tucked away in his jacket pocket, women who offer to watch their neighbor’s 4 kids when she already has a bunch of her own, women who pay at Starbucks for the car behind them, women who look for opportunities to brighten someone’s day,
Women Who Serve.
I’m collaborating with some amazing women this year in hopes that I will step out of my comfort zone and bring more joy into my life by helping others.
Nat (Take the Cannoli)
Summer (Made By Munchie’s Mama)
Sadie (Simply Sadie Jane)
Corrine (Mint Arrow)
Tiffany (Rue Rococo)
We are choosing a word to collectively inspire other women throughout the year and we have chosen
SERVE
Every month on the first Thursday of the month we will have a post sharing who we will be serving that month
&
The post will have a FREE printable from Alissa (The Printed Palette). Yes, you read that right! I seriously keep pinching myself. Guys, she’s one of the most fabulous people I’ve met and she is offering a free printable every month for a year! Crazy awesome. We are so lucky.
THEN
Every month on the last Thursday of the month we will have a wrap up post sharing our experiences and what we did.
Write a blog post and come link up.
Doing a simple act of service goes a long way.
It’s easy, fun, and we will hopefully help some wonderful people along the way.
Review:
Beginning of the month, theme is given along with a free printable.
During the month, do something pertaining to that word.
End of the month, share with us and we will share with you.
Use the #SimplyServe2014
Every month we will serve different people. You will be able to serve friends, family members, your community, neighbors and people you don’t even know. We will let you know who we are serving each month and you will have a couple weeks to put yourself out there and do it. You can do 1 thing for 1 person during the month. It’s not going to take a lot of your time and it doesn’t need to be Pinterest perfect.
The theme for January is to
SERVE YOURSELF.
The only way I can serve others and be a happier person is when I’m happy with myself.
I’ve become more simple as I’ve had more kids and have gotten older.
For example, an hour trip to Target alone keeps me on cloud 9 for the week. A pedicure makes me feel like a princess. Cuddling up in my bed while everyone sleeps with a good book brings me peace. Writing in my journal. Grabbing a dirty Dr. Pepper with a sugar cookie.
It’s January, time for resolutions and wishes for the year.
Concentrate on you and during the month do 1 nice thing for yourself.

While it is my comfort zone, it is also a chaotic zone. I’m in the holy crap, I didn’t know I could be this tired, zone. I have 3 kids: 7, 4, and 1 and some days I’m lucky to make it out of the house. Sometimes I think I don’t have the time because my life is so busy. It’s always something and if I’m not going to go out of my way to have a helpful heart, where will my children learn to go out of their way to help?
I always feel like I could do more to help someone out, but I don’t know where to start.
I’ve learned that the only way to start is to just do it.
I don’t have a clue what I’m doing, but that’s what I think will be awesome.
You know those days where you are so appreciative to a family member, friend or even stranger.
I remember when a man picked up the tab for my little boy’s haircut and was complimenting me on what a great job I was doing as a mother.
I needed it as a new mom of 2 kids barely finding the time to shower.
I remember when a friend picked my kids and I up after I had knee surgery so we could spend the day at her house. She painted my toes and made us food.
I needed it since I was struggling around and could use the extra hand.
I remember when my mom came for the birth of each of my babies to remind me to take my vitamins, let me sleep, and help me function.
I needed my mom to help me learn how to take care of these sweet babies.
Acts of service and kindness go a long way.
We are working together to serve someone each month and hope you will join in!
