With Elevate coming up, we thought now is as good as any to tell our story.
We tell a quick version of our story at the beginning of Elevate every year, and we have a little about us here, but I don’t think we’ve given our version in a post yet.

Almost 4 years ago I was blogging on my site Delightful Deets & Summer was blogging on her site Made By Munchie’s Mama. Summer found my blog and noticed that when I had a blog post that I linked up at numerous places, I’d put the little buttons all in nice rows, same size and uniform looking. She left a comment asking where I had learned to do that. I clicked through Summer’s blog, saw that she was making super cute baby stuff on Etsy, while finding the time to craft, and used to be a dancer for a sports team. I was a cheerleader way back in high school, which counts for nothing, but I always wished I had more rhythm. So right off the bat, I thought Summer was the coolest.

I emailed her back with a tutorial on how to make her buttons like mine, told her how cute her little shop was, and asked if she wanted to do a giveaway or guest post. She guest posted, I had a button on her site, and since I knew we were both in California, I asked if she wanted to host a blogger night somewhere. We set up a time to chat on the phone. Ahhh! I was so nervous. It sounds ridiculous, but it was like a first date. I was nervous I’d say something wrong, or sarcastic, or need to put her on hold so I could throw up. (I was newly pregnant with my 3rd and very sick)
I think I even made everyone leave the room and close my door so I could seem professional, and yes I’m laughing while I type that.

We slowly started brainstorming, actually it wasn’t slow. Summer & I learned quickly we both are similar when it comes to instant gratification. We want to know when, if, how, and where as soon as possible.
The first time we “met” was at a hotel just a little bit before the 1st conference.
We set up shop in my husband’s office and started making decor.

Our first blogger “night” turned into a big ordeal with meals, decorations, swag bags that were worth 3 times more than the ticket, desserts, snacks, and an incredible day filled with the most amazing women. Tears were shed, real raw stories were shared, people laughed until they cried, and friendships were made.
I made almost 70 tissue poms, over 100 chocolate chip cookies, a huge dessert table backdrop of accordions that I stood on a table 32 weeks pregnant to hang up, and I spray painted so many jars and OJ bottles that I needed to buy my first spray paint machine.
(I know there is a name for that piece of equipment, but I can’t even think of it right now.)
I was stretched in a way that I hadn’t been before, and owed it to Summer. We couldn’t believe that we had pulled it off.
We learned that our personalities are almost exactly alike in the fact that we love the details. We over think the details, we pray over the details, we love parties, we love making friends, we love putting together an event where the point is to feel uplifted and know that You are Important.
Your story is Important.

Whether you are a stay at home mom, a student, a single lady, a successful career woman, a single mom, you have something to say, you have something to share.
Someone can be uplifted by your voice, your experiences.

It is possible to make friends that will stick by you, cheer you on, and love you in this crazy little Internet space.
Friends that will be more excited to see your kids than they are you (sorry Summer), friends that will happy cry with you over a beautiful day for your family, friends that will have your back and roar with you over a child being treated poorly at school, friends that are there through thick and thin.

Friends that will make you laugh so hard your cheeks hurt.
Friends that will pull you out of your shell and get you to dance in public.
Friends that will sew you into your outfit at a conference.
Friends that will take you for a night out on the town to taste chocolate until the early hours in the morning.
Friendship that doesn’t know distance.
If you are interested in learning more about our conference, or registering, we’d love to have you! We just announced our speakers for 2015 and we will have more fun announcements coming!
