We are game lovers. It’s gotten worse in the last few months. My husband and I have always loved playing games, but with kids and bedtimes and being deliriously tired, we go on and off of playing. When our favorite games need a larger number of people playing, it starts gathering dust. Are you a fan of games? Can you guess what pieces those games are from? (Answer at the bottom)
We are fortunate to live close to some really good friends. The kind of friends that would do anything for us and vice versa. The kind where I can call the wife and say, “My mother in law is coming today! I need help!” And within the hour she is at my front door with her cleaning bag, gets right to work and doesn’t speak to me until we are finished. The kind where we love each others kids like they were our own. We call at 5 and ask what the other person is doing for dinner. I don’t care what my house looks like when they come over or how messy it is when they leave. My makeup is on 24% of the time and if I’m lucky I can snap on a bra before they arrive.
We have 7 kids under 10. Our kids play so well together, it’s hard for me to let them have anyone else over. We are spontaneous friends. When we don’t have anything to whip up, we order pizza. Even though we are spontaneous, we stink at making decisions. We contemplate where to order, how much to order, what kind to order, pick up or delivery, do we take the kids to pick up?
We called them, said to come over for dinner and games. I headed to Walmart for bread, bananas, and was hoping something would jump in my cart. I didn’t have any grand ideas and had a crazy week. I was a little bit drained and just wanted easy. I saw that Tony’s Pizzas were on sale and remembered that I had seen a coupon for them. The coupon is .75 off of 2 Tony’s multi-serve pizzas (while supplies last). My Walmart store had 2 for $4, so I grabbed a bunch and used the coupon. I hadn’t tried Tony’s Pizza before so I crossed my fingers and figured my husband would eat them if the kids wouldn’t or if everyone loved them I could just pop another one in the oven.
My kids loved them! I think my son’s exact words were, “I don’t know if I can finish this one, but these are just so good!” He was on his 3rd piece. He never eats more than 1 and is super picky. As he was leaning back in his chair and trying to make more room in his belly, I mentally gave myself 10 bonus points.
We pulled out a game while we were waiting for everyone else to finish. Poor kids are just as competitive as their mom and dad. It was such a nice, simple way to unwind from the week. I just got back from SNAP and needed a relaxing night in.
Since it was just Easter, I have a bunch of left over candy and we had a recharge station with the rest of the pizza that was left.
For adult games, we love The Settlers of Catan, Pit, Canasta, & Phase 10. If our kids aren’t playing Dungeon Tag, they really like Candy Land, the Enchanted Cupcake Party, and any game of Memory.

Do you have a favorite game? We are always looking for new ones!
